Kitchen Remodel Part 1- Considering a remodel...
I am often asked what does a kitchen remodel cost?
This question is difficult to answer correctly with no information on what type of remodel, but I generally reply with a silly answer of between $1,000.00 to $100,000.00 to help break the ice. I start by getting some feedback from potential customers by listening to there ideas and desires to help me start to get an idea of what they are visioning. As these visions start to get clear I am now able to start with verbal ballpark estimates. This generally helps both myself and the client see a direction that we can start working on going to. In a little bit of time with me we would be able to work on budgeting estimate for your project.
How long will I be without my kitchen?
After we have an idea of the scope of the project this will allow us to answer this question accurately. A vague answer can be from a few days to few months.
What inconveniences am I going to have?
You will probably be doing more take out or going out to eat at restaurants. With a family this can be expensive and a challenging process. This is also important for budgeting. Without having a kitchen it can be disruptive to your everyday routine. -Where am I am going to wash any dishes,glasses etc. We have seen washtubs, bathroom sinks, bathtubs and outside hoses used for daily clean up. The time of the year can be important to you and your family as well for a variety of reasons.
How long does the entire Process take?
Design Process is dependent on the scope of the project.
Semi custom cabinets lead time can be 4-6 weeks.
Custom cabinets 6-12 weeks
Installation time based on scope of the project.
There can be a lot time involved in picking out your Kitchen cabinets, moldings, options for cabinets, counter top, sink(s), Faucet(s), lighting, tile, flooring, paint etc... A lot of people generally only go through 1 or 2 large remodels in their lifetime so I understand that you will need help. Don't be Stressed and have fun with it!
My thoughts to possibly help you out in your decision process is;
DO NOT have any regrets.
